Welcome back from the long weekend! It was another exciting one for racing fans. Here’s what you need to know.
ROKiT Williams Racing had a big Sunday night at the virtual Monaco Grand Prix. George Russell took the top spot once again, marking a two-race winning streak. This time around, things did not come down to the wire. Instead, Russell maintained dominance throughout the race, crossing the finish line 39 seconds ahead of Esteban Gutierrez from Team Mercedes. Nicholas Latifi also had a strong showing, placing in the top ten. It appears that virtual racing has given our drivers an opportunity to showcase their talents in Formula One competition like never before. Click here for a recap of Russell’s post-race interview. And, watch the next race on Sunday, June 7 at 10am Pacific to see if Russell will capture a coveted three-peat.
ROKiT Venturi racer Edoardo Mortara continues to look strong during the Race at Home Challenge. He finished fourth in the Berlin ePrix virtual competition this past weekend. Mortara currently sits at seventh in the standings for the series. His teammate Felipe Massa is still adjusting to the nuances of virtual racing. Last week the veteran spoke about the challenges associated with learning a new racing system, especially alongside the pros who are more experienced in the sim racing world. “It’s unbelievable to see the level of the drivers and how much they know about all of these games and systems. Driving is very different – you need to understand so many different points.” His full interview can be found here. Mortara and Massa will be racing again this Saturday, May 30 at 7:30am Pacific.
The Race All-Star Series
The Legends Trophy races seemed to draw the most attention over the weekend, with 80-year-old legend Mario Andretti participating in the action. For the Pro Cup, Tom Dillmann from ROKiT Venturi racing stayed within the top ten in both of his races, maintaining good position in the overall season standings in the number six spot. Tune in this Saturday at 9am Pacific to see how Dillmann fares in the final race of this five week series. Ahead of the next race, enter to win a free ROKiT iO Pro 3D. One racing fan is chosen each week during the series.
